ABOUT ME

So this is awkward. If it appears that my whole person just leaped into existance one unremarkable day in the fall of 2019, be aware that "Lara Hawfield" is a pen name.

My first love was always literature. I was reared by paper people as much as I was ever shaped by the real world. I had a better time with imaginary characters in make-believe worlds, and hope to invite other people to the land of ink and paper laid out by my own mind soon enough.

That being said, I admit to a longtime fling I had with science, one I even went on to make official with a degree in chemistry, of all things. In a way, I am a published author under my real name, which graces two research papers in bioinorganic chemistry. However, degree in hand I ditched those promising career prospects in favour of starvation. And art.

After that messy break-up ("End my misery!" she would exclaim on a daily basis in the lab), I once again set my heart on the love I could never quite let go. I'm sure you can figure out what it was, and is. And in time, I hope to place the product of that love in your hands and on your bookshelves.
